Check your blog portfolio checklist and make sure you complete the tasks as soon as possible. Remember to publish everything in your blog!

Bubbleshare (now no longer available) Photobucket-Slide.com-Frappr-etc
Have fun publishing photos in your blog. Bubbleshare (or any of the other photo slide websites above) is very easy to use for that purpose. Join and start having fun. Ask your teacher fo take photos if you haven't got any with you. Notice that you can write a caption on each photo. You can have fun and use the special features, like speech bubbles, funny hats, etc.
This one I did with flickr. They are photos of flowers I've take around my garden, when going on bush walks or around the city.

Created with flickr slideshow.

Podcasts

Catch up work from last term: Listen to the podcasts and do the work on the worksheets published on each podcast below. You will need quite a lot of time and you may not be able to open the worksheets at TAFE, so PLEASE work at home on this.
  • Carol Podcast & worksheet (which includes writing)
  • Andrew Podcast & read article & write your opinion in your blog
  • Patricia: Librarian podcast & answer questions
  • Tessa Podcast & worksheet (which includes writing)

Formal Letter Writing

I have found a very good website for you to look at and expand on the work we started last week on formal letter writing: speakspeak writing business letters. It tells you when to write Yours sincerily or Yours faithfully and it also gives you many useful senctences for the opening and closing lines.

Water Saving

This term Andrew is going to be talking to you about the environment. There is a new online game called Mission H2o. It is on water conservation and teaches players how to improve water usage at home. You can win an ipod if you play all the games. Tell your kids and friends about it! Closing Date: Friday 30th May 2008 at 5.00pm.

Personal Texts

As you know, a blog is very useful to express your own thoughts and opinions. View this blog from one of Sally's students (AMEP-B 2007), Bo Liang's Blog. Do the same topic as Bo, If I could be an animal....Choose and animal you would like to be and write about it.

How was your holiday?

Mine was very relaxing and I kept busy finishing some jewellery pieces from my last jewellery workshop. I've put the photos in the podcast below.

Talking about holidays, visit Elmira's blog and read her last post from Russia.

And talking about jewellery, listen to this podcast, Tessa..., where I interview a young girl who was doing the jewellery workshop with me. Use the worksheet to help you understand and complete all the work in it.

Remember to publish your report on Perth and your hometown.

Finally, check your emails. You have to answer my email about the holidays. It'll be part of your assessment on reading and written personal letters.

Can you guess what these two photos are? You will find the answer in p: drive.

Report Writing

You will soon have an assessment on report writing. Go to this post: Reports: Information Texts (Factual Descriptions) and read it carefully. You can print it if you wish.
Open this worksheet, Writing Skills; Information texts: Report: Places, and do all the exercises. There are links that you can access by clicking on them.

  1. You have to write a report of your home town.

  2. Compare 3 reports: the one on Huesca, the Wombat text from Time4English Lower Intermediate and the one you write about your home town. Use the table provided in the above worksheet.
  3. Publish your report on an icon from your country. Try to find a photo to go with it and illustrate what you are talking about.

Listening Activity

The IT staff have fixed the problem we had last week with real player. Can you listen to this podcast, Carol: Constant Movement, and let me know if it is working OK now?

I hope you understand Carol, she has an American accent, but speaks very clearly. Do the exercises in the worksheet, they will help you understand the conversation and improve your English!
